Watercolor Workshop Part 2

Designed for the beginner with or without some watercolor experience, this workshop will discuss and review watercolor's properties and qualities.  With gentle guidance for exploration, new ways of painting will be experienced.  We will play with line, color, shapes, textures and negative space to create dynamic energized watercolors.  The focus will be on letting the paint do the work for us as we go with the flow of water and our creativity. Come without judgment to move beyond our limiting thoughts of what can make a painting.

ABOUT JACKIE MEIER

Meier attended Boston College and received a BA in economics and later earned an MFA in painting from Pratt Institute. Meier had numerous solo shows at New York galleries including Nancy Margolis, Janet Kurnatowski and Kenise Barnes Fine Art.  She has been including in many group shows some of which were at Lennon Weinberg, Life on Mars, Sideshow Gallery, Nurture Art, Andre Zarre and Denise Bibro. She has taught art to both children and adults though the Pelham Art Center, and Concordia College.  In 2013 she was awarded an arts Westchester grant to teach children at the Holmes School in Mt. Vernon NY.   In 2016 she joined the Village of Mamaroneck Arts Council.  She initiated the lecture series Art/Life, bringing art lectures to the public.  In 2017 she began teaching at One River Arts School in Larchmont.

Meier’s love of watercolors began in San Francisco, living in a small apartment, she made watercolors at her kitchen table.  Meier continues to use watercolor to generate ideas for her large geometric abstract oil paintings.www.jackiemeier.com
